Seasonal Notes

Spring (March to June) and fall (September to November) offer mild temperatures, fewer crowds, and lower prices. This is also a great time for outdoor activities such as hiking, and visiting national parks.

We don't recommend coming in the summer as it gets extremely hot in Andalusia. Additionally, they are both more crowded and more expensive. To help curb over-tourism, we recommend avoiding the peak summer months if your schedule allows it.

Day 2 Madrid - Granada by Train

In the morning, make your own way to the Madrid train station, and then take the train to Granada.

Arrive in the wonderful city of Granada, renowned for the Alhambra Palace and its Moorish history and neighborhoods.

After leaving your luggage at your accommodation, you will go on a guided visit to understand the important link between water and this city. We cannot understand the Alhambra UNESCO World Heritage Site without the water that allowed its construction.

The visit starts and returns from the Paseo de los Tristes or Darro, and helps you understand the water cycle in the Alhambra Palace and the Generalife Gardens (part of the Alhambra).

The Alhambra features an elaborate system of fountains, pools, and channels that showcase the sophisticated engineering and hydraulics employed by the Moorish architects. Water is an essential element in this monumental complex: it gives life to gardens and orchards and generates a unique sensory landscape: sounds, reflections, freshness, and greenery that contribute to the overall aesthetic and sensory experience of the palace.

The designers of the Alhambra ingeniously used water to create a sense of tranquility and coolness, essential in the warm Andalusian climate. The meticulous incorporation of water elements in the Alhambra's architecture highlights the importance of water as both a functional and aesthetic component in Islamic garden design.
